Kenji Yoshino is a well established man who was not only a professor of law and the deputy of intellectual life at Yale, he was also a writer who had many of his own articles published in the New York Times, The Boston Globes, etc.
He shares in his writing that he is a gay Asian who was not always able show is true self.

Yoshino defines covering as toning down a disfavored identity to fit into the mainstream.
He then goes on to explore the idea of an individuals true self vs. their false self.
In his other writing, “The New Civil Rights” Yoshino believes that we need to rethink our model of civil rights in order to accommodate the increasingly diverse population.
